What is Vaastu
Vaastu Shastra is essentially the act of correct settings whereby one can place himself in such a manner so as to absorb the maximum benefits of the Panchbhootas or the five elements as well as the influence of magnetic field surrounding the earth.
Vaastu is an inherent energy concept of science. We cannot see energy with our naked eyes but we can realize and see its application in different forms and fashions. We all know that “upto the knowledge of mind is called Science and beyond the knowledge of mind is called Spirituality.” Hence, Vaastu is not only a science, but is a bridge between man and nature, thus teaching us the Art of Living.
Vaastu is a complete understanding of direction, geography, topography, environment and physics. It is a study that dictates the form size and orientation of a building, in relation to the plot, soil, surroundings and the personality of the owner / dweller. There is no room for rituals and superstitions.

Every thing is made up of basic five elements – FIRE,WATER,EARTH,SPACE and AIR called ‘Panchabhootas’. All materials in the world, irrespective of their size, shape, colour, physicaI or chemical compositions have embedded their origins from one of the Pachabootas. Vaastu is that science which tells how to make use of the Pacnhabootas effectively for harmonius living
Vaastu and culture
The mention of Vaastu can be found in ancient scriptures like the Rigveda, Atharvaveda, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Mayamatam, Manasa saar, etc. Ancient Indian architecture depended on this science for the building of almost all the palaces and temples. Our ancient sages are creators, constructors and architects. Vaastu sastra includes Civil Engineering, Architecture, Arts and Crafts. Ramappa temple was built according to vaastu.
Why Vaastu is necessary
Vaastu is the bridge between man and nature. Everything is made up of basic five elements – FIRE, WATER, EARTH, SPACE, and AIR. All These elements are only found on earth that is why it is the only planet that supports life and nature. If the residential and commercial buildings are constructed without any regards to these elements then how would it will give any benefits? From each of the basic elements we are getting a strange precious gift due to infinite powers of the universe.
All materials in the world , irrespective of their size, shape, color, physical or chemical compositions have embedded their origins from one of the Panchbhootas. They enjoy peculiar vibration levels, which is evading the intelligence of human beings. Vaastu is in a position to reduce the gravity of the problems faced by human beings as well as industries particularly those suffering from sickness through vibrations of Panchbhootas which has anchored their roots in the body of the human beings as well as the external and internal building configurations
Vaastu – Site Plan
The length and width of the plot where you want to construct the house shall be divided into nine parts, and by drawing lines at those points will create 9×9=81 small squares or rectangles. These 81 squares or rectangles are called ‘Vaastu Padas’. It is also called ‘Ekaseeti’ pada Vaastu. We can arrive at the center pada (BrahmaSthana), of the plot. Four directions South, East, North, West can be fixed with reference to the site. It becomes easy to arrive at as to where Simhadwara shall be fixed. It is easy to arrive at the open spaces to be left.
Vaastu and Science

Sun rays contains ultra violet and infrared rays which is helpful for the existence of life and nature. Sun generates 50,00,000 crores MW of solar energy every year and only 47% of it reaches earth of which only a fraction is being is used.
Vastushastra is an ancient building science which covers the philosophy and theory of Architectural works to construct any building and as well as living style of people. Vastushastra is based on various natural energies, which are available free cost in atmosphere like: Solar Energy from Sun, Lunar Energy from Moon, Earth Energy, Sky Energy ,Electric Energy ,Magnetic Energy ,Thermal Energy ,Wind Energy ,Light Energy ,Cosmic Energy. Utilization of such energies gives us pleasure peace, prosperity and money etc in our life Vaastu can be used for every room, every house, every temple, every shop industry, town planning, cities and even for earth.Vaastu can be used for micro as well as for macro level.
There are three forces in action to create harmony. Wind, water and fire or, vaayu, jal and Agni. If these forces are kept in their appropriate places, then there will be no disturbance. But if water is put in place of fire and wind in place of water or in any other combination, the forces will start acting accordingly and create disharmony and unpeacefulness
A Word of Caution
As you cannot become a doctor by reading books, browsing through these or other similar websites, referring self learning books is not going to make you a Vaastu shastri. Should you decide to try it personally, it may be hazardous for you.
Vaastu has a peculiarity. No two sites are the same, as compared to others. Minute differences do creep up, and should you try to use the ‘rule-of-thumb’ technique, you may start losing and rather badly, too. Get hold of a Vaastu consultant and take his advice. This is imperative.
Architects/Builders may complain of the complications/difficulties while working within the confines of Vaastu, but in truth, it actually releases them, and ultimately induces them to design more user friendly and aesthetic structures.
Let the phoenix rise from the ashes and spread its glorious wings of harmony. Welcome to the world of Vaastu.
